Jason Lamy Chappuis wins gold. Jason Lamy Chappuis is the winner of the Nordic combined individual race. He blew past Spillane like a snowmobile to capture the first Olympic gold of his career.
“I had really good speed; just gave the best I could,” said Lamy Chappuis, who was ranked fifth after the ski jumping portion of the competition. “I knew I had the power to pass him.”
Jason Lamy Chappuis was born in Missoula, Mont., moved to Colorado and grew up in Bois d’Amont in eastern France. He won a medal at the world junior championships and has risen steadily to the highest ranks of his sport.
